Terms and Conditions for the IH Bristol Daily English Challenge (DEC)

  1. The DEC and its copyright are the property of IH Bristol. IH Bristol reserves all intellectual rights therein. The intellectual property rights in the DEC are owned by us. Registering to play the game shall not confer on you any right or interest in the DEC and all other rights are reserved to us.
  2. Players have no right to reproduce, distribute, communicate to the public, modify, reformat, prepare derivative works of or display the DEC. The DEC is for individual use only unless IHB has given express written permission otherwise.
  3. Players must not use the DEC for any commercial or other non-personal purpose.
  4. Notwithstanding any other provision of these terms, our liability to you for death or personal injury resulting from our negligence (or that of our employees, agents or sub-contractors) shall not be limited. Save as stated in the preceding sentence, (1) our entire liability to you in respect of any breach of our contractual obligations, breach of warranty, representation, statement or tortious act or omission including negligence arising under or in connection with these terms shall be limited to the amount (if any) paid by you to us under these terms; and (2) we shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss you may suffer even if the loss was reasonably foreseeable or the possibility of such loss advised.
  5. All players must accept the T&Cs to play the game. All players must also register to play the game. In order to register, players are required to give IHB personal information. This information will be used only to verify the player's identity, keep them informed about the game and other events and opportunities at IHB. The information will not be shared with any third party.
  6. IHB will not enter into any correspondence regarding the content of the DEC, the conduct of the DEC or any other aspect of the DEC. IHB's decision on the correct answer for each question is final and binding.
  7. IHB's decision on the awarding of any prizes is final and binding.
  8. All and any errors in the DEC are accidental.
  9. Each player may only use a single account to play the DEC. If IHB suspects a player is using multiple accounts, we reserve the right to disqualify that player.
  10. Players must play the DEC themselves without consulting other persons and without referring to any external sources of information. If IH Bristol suspects that a player is engaging in any such misconduct we reserve the right to disqualify the player.
  11. Players must provide details of their identity and level of English in order to register an account. If IHB suspects that a player is not playing at their actual level of English, under a fake identity, or under another person's identity, we reserve the right to disqualify the player.
  12. IH Bristol reserves the right to delete any account which we believe to be inactive. This includes, but is not limited to, accounts which are not used within the first week after registration, or which remain unused for 30 days.
  13. In order to be eligible to claim a prize, players may be required to take part in processes (such as a Skype interview) chosen by IHB to verify their identity and level of English.
  14. When a winner is chosen at a particular level, the prize is fixed at that level. Should the winner arrive to take up the prize and be deemed an entirely different level, they will be disqualified and will not be able to take up the prize. IHB will not reimburse any travelling expenses in such a case.
  15. In order to be eligible to claim a prize, players must be able to arrange any necessary visas, travel documents, means of travel and accommodation costs themselves.
  16. Native English speakers are not eligible to take part in prize competitions.
  17. Players are not eligible to take part in a prize competition if they have previously won a prize competition, except by playing at a higher level than any level at which they have previously won. In this context winning means being awarded a prize and/or finishing at the top of the relevant leaderboard.
  18. Under no circumstances is the prize transferable to another person. No cash equivalent of the prize will be paid.
